A Kano State High Court sitting at Audu Bako Secretariat has sentenced two men to three years’ imprisonment for their involvement in a case of armed robbery, conspiracy, assault, and theft.

The convicts, Jibrin Yunusa and Nasir Yunusa, were among five defendants arraigned on charges bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, and causing grievous harm to a victim during a robbery incident at Dorayi Babba Quarters in Kano metropolis.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Abdussalam Sale, told the court that the accused persons attacked and robbed the victim, inflicting serious injuries and stealing valuables, including a mobile phone and cash.

During the proceedings, the prosecution presented witnesses who testified against the fourth and fifth defendants.

After evaluating the evidence, the court found them guilty of assisting the first, second, and third defendants in withdrawing money from the victim’s bank account using the stolen mobile phone.

In his judgment, Justice Faruk Lawan convicted the two men and sentenced them to three years’ imprisonment each, with an option of a ₦200,000 fine.

The judge subsequently adjourned the case to December 16 for the continuation of trial involving the remaining three defendants.
