Speaking at a dinner organised by the friends of the new permanent secretary on his appointment, the Head of Service said the position of permanent secretary was an exalted one which every civil servant would want to reach. He said the perm sec should discharge his official responsibilities diligently and ensure that he performs excellently. “There are really high stakes on you, so I urge you to perform your duties excellently and diligently so as to prove your mettle,” he said.

Zakariyya’u noted that the permanent secretary had been an industrious civil servant who had made marks in his previous assignments. While congratulating him for his appointment, he expressed hope that Alhaji Kwalli would achieve maximum success expected of him by many people.

Malam Zakariyya’u however, revealed that other civil servants were all qualified for the position, only that their time had not come. “All of you are eligible for such exalted positions. You may not be on the position now because your time has not come. So I urge you to brace up,” he said.

He also noted that the close-knit relationship existing among the state civil servants will bring progress and development to the state civil service. “I am happy that you organised this event in honour of one of you. This is a very good gesture that will bring progress and development in the civil service,” he said.

In his remarks, the celebrant Alhaji Sabo Kwalli said he would ensure that he does not disappoint the people. “I will not disappoint those who made me what I am today. I am happy that I am recognised for the position,” he said.
