According to the petition, a copy of which was made available to Pryamid Trust, the petitioners claimed that Revenue Technical Committee served them with demand notice to pay huge sums of money into private personal account of the committee with GTBank.

The hoteliers stated that upon receipt of the order, they pointed out that the committee was illegal as there was no law of Kano State that backed the establishment of the committee.  They also said that given the forgoing reasons and the fact that the members of the committee were not staff of the local government, they would not pay the taxes into the accounts as no law permitted them to do so.
