Kano/Jigawa Customs generates N25bn revenue

The Nigeria Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa Command has revealed that it collected revenue worth N25.3billion in 2021, an increase from the N24.4billion generated by the command in 2020.
The command said its activities at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) have also boosted its revenue collection.
The Comptroller of the Command, Suleiman Pai Umar told journalists on Thursday that the command was also able to tackle smuggling activities which led to the seizure of contrabands worth over a N187m in Duty Paid Value (DPV) in its latest activities.
He said 1040 bags of foreign rice with DPV of N69million, foreign spaghetti worth N63.9million as well as 339 pieces of donkey skin worth over N31million were among the contrabands seized by the command.
He said for the entire 2021, the command made a total of 398 seizures with DPV of over N1billion.
