The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sanctioned a Shari’a Court judge and several court staff over ethical violations, financial misconduct, and criminal allegations, following its 88th meeting held on December 1, 2025.

In a statement, Judiciary spokesman Amb. Baba Jibo Ibrahim said the Commission adopted the findings of the Judiciary Public Complaint Committee (JPCC), which investigated multiple petitions.

Upper Shari’a Court Judge Umar Bala Musa of Dambatta was issued a formal warning for delaying the release of a court record for three months instead of the constitutionally required seven days.

The Commission also suspended Saifuddeen Mukhtar Abdullahi, Principal Registrar at the Kano Multi-Door Courthouse, over alleged misappropriation of cooperative investment funds, forged signatures, and conflicting financial records.

He was placed on interim suspension without pay and referred to the Police for investigation in line with Civil Service Rule 04405.

Similarly, the JSC suspended without pay one Kamal Ado, a Senior Clerical Officer at Kurna Sharia Court, after the NDLEA confirmed he had been charged at the Federal High Court for conspiracy to deal in illegal drugs, assaulting officers, tampering with exhibits, and aiding the release of a suspect.

The Commission also reviewed the case of Ibrahim Adamu, who completed a six-month suspension and showed improved conduct. His earlier four-year promotion ban was lifted, and he will be eligible for promotion subject to passing the required exams.

The JSC reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and restated its commitment to strengthening discipline and integrity within the judiciary.
