The chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge, addressing members of the union who converged  on the Kano High Court premises  to observe a one day prayer session, stated that the union had not directed its members to return to work as being  speculated in certain quarters, alleging that those opposed to their struggle to ensure the state government  yielded to their demands were the brain behind the  announcement. He described the rumour as the handiwork of fifth columnists in the state.

“We are still on strike, some government officials went on air to say that we called off the strike after we were paid our salaries and Eid-Kabir ram allowances, but I want to inform all members of the judicial staff union of Nigeria, that we are still on strike and we will not surrender until our demands are met by the state government.”

In his address to judicial workers who throng the venue of the prayer session their numbers, Comrade Maruwanu Mustapha Adamu, the national publicity secretary of the union, said, the Kano State government had ignored the plight of judiciary worker s in the state, alleging that other than confront the problem from a holistic axis the state authorities had resorted to the use of campaign of calumny, Maruna alleged.  “Instead of the state government to address the issue of strike, it is now using propaganda against us, the state government should know that we are not politicians, we are only asking for better condition of service, well equipped court room and adequate provision of tools needed for the dispensation of justice in the state.”

“We have done our best to meet with the state government ,but rather than ensure the deadlock in negotiation is loosened  they are threatening that we will not be paid our December salaries, I call on all judicial staffs to stay away from all judicial offices, we are still on strike,” he stressed.

Suleman Aliu, the public relations officer of the state chapter of the union, said, “The prayer session we organised is to take our case to Allah, after every possible avenue we exploited has failed we have not option left than to resort to the Almighty Creator.”
