The member representing Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency, Hon. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, was booed and escorted out of an APC ward congress in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, following protests by some aggrieved youths.

Viral video clips circulating on social media showed a group of supporters chanting “ba ma yi” (we are not doing) while confronting the lawmaker during the party’s leadership election meeting.

The incident occurred while Jobe was delivering a speech in his hometown of Tofa. In one of the videos, a voice from the crowd was heard saying, “Wallahi, our leader, there are issues to fix. We hunters, you have not considered us.”

However, the situation appeared to escalate as some youths continued shouting and making abusive remarks. Subsequent footage showed attempts by aides and supporters to escort the lawmaker away from the venue in a vehicle amid the growing tension.

Earlier this month, Jobe had appealed to his constituents to forgive him for any shortcomings during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party, a gathering that reportedly ended in disorder.

Daily Trust reports that the Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado/Tofa federal seat is witnessing heightened political activity ahead of the next election cycle, with several prominent party figures said to be eyeing the position.

Jobe, who is currently serving his fifth term in the House of Representatives, is reportedly seeking a sixth term. His recent return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fueled speculations that he may be aiming to secure an automatic ticket for the next election.

The Tofa outing is said to be his first major public appearance in his hometown since winning a fifth term in 2023. The constituency has historically produced notable political figures, including the late Danmasanin Kano, Dr. Yusuf Maitama Sule; the late Dr. Maikano Rabiu; the late Mustapha Janguza; Engr. Hamisu Abubakar Lambu; and Hon. Shehu Haruna Lambu.
