Kano man accused of obtaining $190,000 by fraud for trial Feb 19

Justice Abdullahi Muhammed Liman of the Federal High Court, Kano, has adjourned the trial of one Alhaji Ishaku Idris, accused of obtaining $188,910 by pretense, to February 19.

The money, an equivalent of N67,626,200 at the exchange rate of N358 to a dollar at the time of the incident, belonged to one Muhammadu Dukure.

The police arraigned Idris before Justice Liman in 2022 for allegedly defrauding Dukure the said amount knowing same to be unlawful and punishable in law.

The prosecution counsel told the court that counsel to the defendant was absent, asking the court to adjourn the matter to enable the lawyer to appear for the trial.
