A Kano State Sharia court sitting in Kura LGA has ordered that a young man, Ibrahim Musa Tofa, be given 10 lashes of the cane for stealing sugarcane from a farm.

Tofa was brought before the court presided over by Malam Ibrahim Isah Usman after he was arrested by the owner of the farm with the help of labourers for trespassing into his farm in the night and stealing sugarcane.

After the prosecution counsel read the charges against Tofa, he pleaded guilty and begged the court to forgive him and promised not to repeat such.

The judge ordered him to be caned 10 lashes instantly and to pay the amount of money for the sugarcane he stole.
