Kano man remanded for stealing bread

A Kano State Shari’ah Court sitting in Fagge Yan Alluna has ordered that a man, Shafi’u Yakubu, be remanded in a correctional centre for pleading guilty to stealing two loaves of bread from a shop in Kano.

Yakubu was arraigned before the court presided over by Salihu Jaafar Muahammad by the police over two counts bordering on entering without permission and theft.

The prosecution counsel, Barrister Badiyya Ahmad,   told the court that the suspect, was sometime in March, arrested for entering a shop in the Fagge area around 3am and stealing two loaves of bread valued at N1,250.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and the judge, Salihu Jaafar Muhammad, ordered that he be remanded at a correctional facility and adjourned the case to May 9, 2023 for sentencing.
