Kano man remanded for stealing dog

A magistrates’ court sitting in Kano has remanded one Balarabe Saminu for allegedly entering his neighbour’s house and stealing his dog in Adakawa area of Dala LGA.

Saminu was dragged before the court by the police on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and entering a place without permission.

He was accused of entering his neighbour’s house, Basiru Kabiru Adakawa, and stealing his dog which is valued at N57,000.

Counsel to the state government, Barr A. S. Dandago, prayed the court to read the charges against the defendant since it was a new case.

The court, presided over by Haulatu Magaji, ordered the prosecution counsel, Auwal Aminu Ibrahim, to read the charges, after which he pleaded not guilty.

The judge then ordered the remand of the accused in a correctional facility and adjourned the case to April 4, 2023.
