As the Supreme Court reserves judgment in the appeal over the Kano State governorship election, the majority of members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State are observing a special fasting and prayers.

Daily Trust reported that a five-member panel of justices presided by Justice Inyang Okoro on Thursday reserved the judgment after listening to lawyers in the matter.

There was a series of calls for all concerned members of the party on Wednesday to embark on fasting today (Thursday) as the Supreme Court commenced sitting.

However, there was strict compliance to the instruction by the majority of the members, Daily Trust learnt.

Confirming the development, the Director General, Media and Communications, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said, “yes, many of our supporters are fasting today.”

Daily Trust further observed that the calls for intense prayers over the social media have continued minutes after the hearing of the case by the Supreme Court.

Similarly, a visit to major streets in the state metropolitan areas revealed that people were going about their normal activities and everywhere was calm and peaceful.

In the same vein, the joint security heads committee were seen patrolling every nook and cranny of the metropolis to ensure that peace reigns.
