A political support group, Voice of Kano North, has declared that the senatorial district “cannot afford to lose” the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group insists that his continued representation is key to sustaining ongoing development in the area.
Making the declaration on Tuesday during a press conference, where it threw its weight behind Barau’s “continuity bid”, the group described him as the most impactful representative the zone has produced since the return of democracy in 1999.
Addressing journalists, Habib Jibrin Yan Cibi said, Barau has delivered visible development across Kano North, particularly in education, infrastructure, and human capital development, which it said has transformed the socio-economic landscape of the district.
Cibi argued that his leadership has led to the expansion of educational opportunities through the establishment of higher institutions and learning centres across the 13 local government areas of the zone, including Open University study centres and extensions of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
It further claimed that Barau’s impact is particularly visible in Gwarzo Local Government Area, where it said multiple projects have been executed across sectors including healthcare, water supply, rural electrification, and community development.
