The Kano State Police Command has announced a significant reduction in criminal activities across the state in the first quarter of 2026, attributing the development to strategic reforms and intensified operations.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

Bakori said the command had undergone restructuring aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery, noting that the move has improved response to emerging security challenges.

“Our roadmap for 2026 is yielding tremendous results, and we are committed to maintaining and improving upon this momentum,” he said.

He listed key strategies adopted by the command to include community policing, intelligence-led operations, capacity building for officers, establishment of a cybercrime unit, and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies.

The police boss highlighted the success of Operation Kukan Kura, which he said has played a major role in containing thuggery, locally known as Fadan Daba, across the state.

According to him, the command has also curtailed attempts by bandits to infiltrate the state, resolved farmers-herders clashes through dialogue, and arrested suspects linked to crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, thuggery, and cybercrime.
