The Kano State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims in two coordinated operations spanning Kano and Kaduna States, as part of efforts to clamp down on criminal networks threatening public safety.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the operations were carried out between October 7 and 9, 2025, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Kiyawa said that the first operation was carried out on October 7, as the Command’s anti-kidnapping squad, in collaboration with the surveillance team attached to Bebeji Divisional Police headquarters, launched a successful raid following actionable intelligence.
He explained that the operation began after a 21-year-old escaped kidnap victim, AbdulHamid Bello, sought help from passersby after being abducted and assaulted by his captors.

He added that acting on his lead, police traced the kidnappers’ hideout to Saya-Saya village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where another victim, Musa Idris, aged 65, was discovered and rescued.
“The kidnappers fled upon sighting the approaching operatives, abandoning a motorcycle and a rope, which were recovered as exhibits. Both victims were later reunited with their families and taken for medical treatment,” he said.
Kiyawa also revealed that in a separate incident on October 9, another victim, Ashiru Murtala, aged 19, who was kidnapped on October 5 in Beli Village, Rogo LGA of Kano State, was freed after his abductors abandoned him in a sugarcane farm in Hunkuyi, Kudana LGA, Kaduna State. Police operatives swiftly moved in to rescue him unharmed.
The statement stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered that all rescued victims receive immediate medical attention and assured that the Command is intensifying efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
“There is no hiding place for criminals in Kano State,” CP Bakori vowed, commending the professionalism and bravery displayed by the officers involved.
