Kano procures N1.2bn pipes for water project

The project is under the second phase of the state government’s water supply programme.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr Yunusa Dangwani, made this known while taking delivery of the first batch of the consignment at Danja in Gezawa Local Government area on Monday.
“As you can see, the first batch of the consignment has arrived and the laying of the pipes will commence very soon from Joda to Kawaji and Yankaba. I am sure in the next few months, the pipes will be laid and the problem of potable water in the areas will be a thing of the past.’’
He said the pipes would be laid on a distance of 32 kms for the supply of water to Gezawa, Nasarawa, Gabasawa and parts of Minjibir Local Government.
According to him, the state government has also procured additional power generating plant to boost water supply to Kawaji and other parts of the metropolis.
The commissioner said that as soon as the pipes were laid, the people of the areas would start having water supply from Joda Water Treatment Plant which was recently expanded to meet the growing demands.
He that said when the project was completed, the area would be receiving between 30 million and 40 million litres of additional water per day from the treatment plant. (NAN)
