Dozens of Qadiriyya Sufi order followers observed Salatul Ghaib (funeral prayer in absentia) for the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the Darul Qadiriyya in Kabara quarters, Kano, on Monday.

Darul Qadiriyya is the residence of the late Sheikh Nasiru Kabara, the leader of the Qadiriyya sect in Africa, who died in 1993.

The funeral prayer was led by Sheikh Muazzamu Nasiru Kabara, the older son of the late spiritual leader of Qadiriyya sect.

Dozens of faithful attended the prayer which was held immediately after Asr prayer at Darul Qadiriyya premises, where faithful prayed for the repose of the deceased leader asking Allah to grant his soul eternal blessings.

Sheikh Musal Qasiyuni Nasiru Kabara was among the notable people who participated in the funeral rites.

He had earlier announced the plan in a video he shared on his verified Facebook page.

Khamenei was killed in a strike by US and Israeli forces on Saturday.

Salatul Ghaib (funeral prayer in absentia) is an Islamic funeral prayer performed for a deceased Muslim who is not physically present, usually when they die in a place with no Muslims to conduct the service.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) first observed Salatul Ghaib for Negus, the king of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia).
