The referee became the first Kano indigene to become a FIFA-badge referee after passing the tough FIFA Physical Fitness Test for referees.

Fagge, a holder of B.A. degree in Islamic Studies from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), started his officiating career in 1994. He became the best referee in 2005/2006 season and was later invited by the Nigerian Premier League to officiate in the Super 4.

By acquiring the prestigious badge, Fagge stands a chance of officiating in the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments.

Famous for his no-nonsense stance in soccer arbitration in Kano, the 36-year-old referee stands out among Nigerian referees for his unbiased officiating, courage and prowess in handling crucial matches.

Speaking to Trustsports, the elated umpire said the badge was acquired through a dint of hard work, dedication and fair handing of matches.

While urging other referees to borrow a leaf from him, he urged the state government to encourage upcoming referees in the state in order to produce qualified referees who will in future do the state proud.

Out of the 200 referees who participated in the FIFA fitness test conducted in August last year, only 28 scaled through the huddle.
