Sagir Koki, House of Representatives member-elect for Kano Municipal, has denied ownership of the account that mimicked the conversation of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, with Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel.

A parody account under the lawmaker’s name had posted a picture where he presented his Certificate of Return to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).

The picture was captioned, “Thank You Daddy, Yess Daddy ❤️🙏”

#YesDaddy has been trending on social media since an online news platform, Peoples Gazette, leaked an audio of the conversation between Obi and Oyedepo.

In the audio, Obi was heard begging Oyedepo to help him mobilise Christian voters ahead of the election, especially those in the North Central states of Kwara, Kogi and Niger, declaring the election was a religious war.

The former governor of Anambra State was repeatedly said, ‘Yes Daddy”, while the conversation lasted.

But the incoming lawmaker distanced himself from the comment.

“My attention has been drawn to a fake Twitter account impersonating me and thereby spreading false information under my name. I wish to state categorically I have no any Twitter account and have not made any tweets on the platform.”

“I am therefore alarmed at the recent development where some media outlets have attributed their stories to the said fake Twitter handle. I wish to also reiterate the fact that I am currently fully focused on working toward fulfilling my campaign promises and delivering dividends of democracy to my constituents, and I will not be distracted.”
