Six entrepreneurship institutes in Kano State have resumed operations and graduated over 840 beneficiaries following their revival by the state government.
Originally established under the administration of Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the institutes were revived to tackle the rising unemployment rate.
Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, Secretary to the Steering Committee for the 26 entrepreneurship institutes, said the six revived centres aim to empower thousands of people with different skills to make them self-reliant.
He spoke during a stakeholder engagement session with small-scale business owners at Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano (BUK).

Muhammad said 140 graduates from the Livestock Institute in Bagauda will each receive a bull, animal feed, veterinary medicines, and a N100,000 startup grant.
He also said 200 graduates from the Horticulture Institute Bagauda, would receive water pumps, wheelbarrows, sprayers, cutting tools, and N100,000 each.
He added that other institutions will also provide similar empowerment packages upon graduation.
Muhammad further revealed that some of the beneficiaries include youths previously rescued from substance abuse.
These individuals are undergoing rehabilitation and reintegration into society, he added.
