Since the creation of Kano State in 1967, the residents of Kabo and Karaye local governments have been suffering due to lack of accessible roads. All these years, the state government failed to construct the road linking the two areas despite its huge benefits to the state.
Ninety per cent of the population in the two local governments engage in agriculture. Thus, the poor condition of the road has adversely affected their source of livelihood as they cannot move their farm produce to markets with ease.
The administration of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau made an effort to construct the road but stopped after little success was recorded. The little work done is being threatened by erosion.
The situation is so bad now that commuters often prefer trekking or riding horses or donkeys to heir destinations.
I want to passionately appeal to the Kano State government to come to the aid of Karaye and Kabo people by constructing this major road linking the two local government areas.
