Kano to benefit 8.1 million euro from EU-SIGN

Kano state government is to benefit 8.1 million euro from the EU-SIGN to boost primary healthcare delivery, Dr. James O. Attah, a polio specialist working with EU-SIGN has said.
Dr. Attah, who stated this when he led a team of EU-SIGN specialists to the office of state commissioner of health Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, expressed satisfaction with the level of successes recorded in the state in the implementation of primary healthcare delivery under one roof programme.
Attah said EU-SIGN was impressed with modest feat recorded in Kano, hence decided to support the state with 8.1 million euro to boost primary healthcare delivery.
He appealed to the state government to make good use of the funds, saying the programme was introduced to harmonize the activities of primary healthcare delivery nationwide.
Responding the state commissioner of health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso assured that government would spend the moneys for the purpose they were meant for.
He said present administration was according priority to health sector, as according to him “it is only when the society is healthy that government can be able to achieve progress in governance”.
He assured the EU-SIGN of Kano state government commitment towards making the programme a successful one.
Earlier, Dr. Adamu Dawud, focal person of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency EUSIGN, said the programme which was introduced in 2010 and approved in 2014, was aimed at assisting states to boost primary healthcare service delivery in their domains.
He said the visit was meant to assess the level of implementation of the programme in Kano state.
