Kano state government has revealed that the recently ascended Kano state Health Trust Fund policy will be financed through a 5% deduction every month from the state’s total Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and another 1% deducted monthly from statutory allocation of the 44 council areas of the state.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner of health Kabiru Ibrahim Getso during a one-day policy dialogue on Kano state government’s, partner’s and Civil Society’s alignment on state work plan on routine immunization, primary healthcare under one roof, family planning and childhood killer diseases organised by Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health Project (PACFaH) in collaboration with development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC).

According to the commissioner, under the health trust fund about N2.5 billion will be generated annually which will be injected into the state health sector management for effective health service delivery across the state.

In his remarks, the team leader Alhaji Garba Audu stated that, the aim of the policy dialogue is to facilitate an open discussion between all stakeholders in the maternal and child health landscape, with a view of having more synergy and efficient policies including more pragmatic approach to their implementation.
