…Kano to distribute N200m tomato seeds

Kano State government has disclosed that it will distribute qualitative tomato seeds to farmers during this year’s dry season farming free.

This was disclosed by the governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, during the training and inauguration of National Agricultural Seed Council’s seed inspectors in the state capital, Kano.

The governor said the move was in line with various agencies’ efforts to sanitize the seed industry to ensure that only good qualitative seeds reached farmers.

He said the state government had procured tomato seeds worth N200 million which will be distributed to the state farmers free.

The governor further revealed that the state government was ever ready to assist the council and farmers in the state toward ensuring that agricultural activities thrived in the state.

The Director-General National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC), Dr. Olusegun Ojo, has warned that any organisation or agency that engaged in any seed related activity without proper recourse to the seed act will be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
