Kano to establish drug marshals committee

Kano state government has promised to establish Drug Marshal Committee with a view to assisting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the fight against drug abuse in the state.

The Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, disclosed this when he received the state’s Commandant of the NDLEA, Hamza Umar in his office.

Rimin-Gado said the marshals would collaborate with personnel of other law enforcement agencies to curtail drug abuse among youth in the state.

He said the move was to compliment the federal government’s efforts in the war against drug abuse in the country.

He further explained that the committee would be supervised by the anti-corruption agency in collaboration with the state ministry for local government.

The chairman added that communication gadgets had been procured to ease communication among the personnel involved in the crusade.

On his part, the Commandant of the NDLEA, Hamza Umar, expressed appreciation for the support the commission was rendering to his agency in the fight against drug abuse in the state.
