Kano State government will establish herbal medicine regulatory board to control activities of herbalists in the state, Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said.

Ganduje, who made the disclosure while answering questions at a town hall meeting organized in commemoration of the 2-year anniversary of his administration, said the board would be saddled with responsibility of regulating activities of herbalists in the state.

The governor said government was concern about the health of its citizenry, noting that recently a sum of N186m was released for procurement of malaria drugs for onward given to people free of charge.

“No serious government will joke with the issue of health. The present government is determined to regulate the activities of herbalists in the state,” he said.

Ganduje also said the government would secure 200m dollar grant from Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for dredging of dams with a view to improving irrigation farming in the state.

He assured that the grant would greatly boost irrigation in the state, appealing to people to go back to farm as government would do everything possible within its power to support agricultural activities.

The governor also said the state government would rehabilitate Niger street, Hausa/Igbo and Yoruba roads in Sabon-Garia area of the state.
