Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Yusuf Jibrin Rurum, has revealed that the state government has committed a lot of efforts to ensure expansion of hibiscus farming in the state as well as to encourage massive exportation of the flower to earn foreign exchange for individual investors and the state.

The commissioner made this known during an official visit to the largest hibiscus fumigation centre in Africa situated in the state and owned by Mumin Foods and Drug Limited. He explained that the state is happy to see indigenous investors doing well in the exportation of hibiscus flowers, adding that the state government will assist in ensuring a huge expansion on the business is achieved within the shortest possible time.

“It is interesting to see such a huge investment being coordinated and owned by indigenes. We have seen the new technological adaptation being introduced as well as the processes involved. This is what we want to see our indigenous business community doing and we will ensure a sustainable expansion of the business as a state,” he said.

Earlier in his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Mumin Foods, Alhaji Abdullahi Usman, stated that the company began operation in 2019 and had been exporting the commodity to other countries, adding that the commissioner’s visit is a plus and an encouragement to the company.
