The Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has matriculated 3,368 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, including 45 pioneer students admitted into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme.
Speaking at the institution’s 14th matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umar A. Pate, said 3,308 students were admitted into regular undergraduate programmes, while 60 enrolled through part-time courses.
He congratulated the students on their admission and assured them of an enabling environment for quality teaching, research and learning.
According to him, the students were admitted into seven faculties—agriculture, education, humanities, management sciences, science and social sciences—as well as the College of Medical Sciences and the Centre for Part-Time and Distance Learning Studies.
Providing a faculty-by-faculty breakdown, Prof. Pate said the Faculty of Social Sciences admitted 1,004 students, followed by the Faculty of Science with 920 students. Management Sciences and Education admitted 528 and 525 students, respectively.
In what he described as a historic milestone, the vice-chancellor announced the admission of 45 pioneer students into the Professor Jibril Aminu College of Medical Sciences to study MBBS, Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology.
He further disclosed that the university had received additional approvals to run programmes in Dental Surgery, Nursing and Occupational Therapy, bringing the number of fully accredited medical programmes to seven.
Prof. Pate cautioned the new students against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices, stressing that the university had zero tolerance for misconduct.
He urged them to uphold discipline, academic integrity, and acquire digital skills to prepare for future leadership roles.
In a goodwill message, former Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, announced a N1m endowment for the best graduating students in the Faculty of Agriculture and the Department of Mass Communication.
He urged the matriculating students to remain focused, committed and serve as worthy ambassadors of the university.
