The Kano Science Schools Old Students’ Association (KASSOSA) Class ’93, Dawakin Kudu chapter at the weekend celebrated its silver jubilee to commemorate its 25 years since graduation.

In his welcome address, the chairman organizing committee, Malam Bilya Sani Musa, represented by Taufiq Aminu Yahaya, said the essence of the gathering was to express their gratitude to Allah for sparing their lives to witness 25 years after graduation, review their contributions to the school as well as to pray for the souls of their departed colleagues.

He thanked all those that have contributed in one way or another to the upbringing and the success of the members of the class, saying that the class had produced great men of substance who have contributed to the development of the school, the state and the nation in different facets of life, among whom was the former Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Dr Nuradden Muhammad.

In his address, the chairman of KASSOSA Dawakin Kudu Class ’93, Umar Adamu Rabo, highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the group which included the renovation of hostels, supplies of drugs to school clinic, repair of beds as well as visitation to families of departed colleagues and empowering them with some capital to start businesses.

Malam Rabo thanked all those who have contributed to the success of the event and prayed for the souls of those who have passed away among their colleagues.

“A day like this is a great day; a day that only those that Allah has granted the opportunity can witness. However, some of our colleagues whom we interacted and grew up together, share things in common 25 years ago, have now passed away. May their souls rest in perfect peace,” he said.

On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, who was a former principal of the college, Malam Tijjani Abdullahi, congratulated the class for coming this far and for the success they have recorded.

He enjoined the current students of the college to emulate class of 93 for their unity and also face their studies squarely so as to live up to their expectation.

In a goodwill message, the national president of KASSOSA, Mustapha Nuhu Wali, represented by the national secretary of the association Alhaji Hassan Abdulhamid Hassan, said plans were underway to supply laboratory equipment to selected seven member schools as first batch, supply seats to staff room and retrain teachers as well as what he called “bring back your seat” in which each and every former student is expected to bring at least a seat and table to the school for the benefit of current students.

Some of the highlights of the event was the quiz competition organized for the students of the school, won by Dan Tunku House, presentation of laboratory equipment to the school by class ’93 as well as award of appreciation to some academic and non-academic staff of the college.
