Katsina state government has approved for the full implementation of the Primary Health Care Under one Roof (PHCOUR) law of 2017 in the state health sector.
Consequently, an implementation committee has been established by the government to commence work in earnest towards its immediate take off.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting, the state commissioner of health Mariya Usman said the implementation committee shall ensure that all PHC’s staff, infrastructure and the facility are brought under a single supervision.
According to her, the PHCUOR intends to eliminate fragmentation and improve management of human resource and shall have one budget, monitoring and evaluation mechanism.
She said, this new drive shall provide a universal health coverage and coming at a time when the Islamic Development loan is coming aimed at revamping the primary health centres across the state.
Other health decisions taking at the councils includes the establishment of Medical Laboratory Department at both the Ministry of Health, Hospital Management service Board and State Primary Healthcare Development agency to improve medical Diagnosis
Government also gave approval to some Nursing staff for in service courses to boost learning and enhance professionalism.
