In 2015, unlike in the past, money and violence will not hold sway. Rather, concrete achievements, capacity and vision will be the determining factors that will decide who emerges as the governor of the state.
An analysis of the three major candidates in the APC, PDP and APGA led respectively by Aminu Bello Masari, Engineer Musa Nashuni and Umar Abdullahi Tsauri will clearly show where the pendulum will swing during the elections. Let me begin with dissecting the personality of Aminu Bello Masari of the APC – a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and a former commissioner of water resources who to the knowledge of every Katsina citizen cannot truly boast of concrete achievements. The same could be said of Umar Abdullahi Tsauri, APGA’s candidate. With the exception of his known use of ethnic and religious divide lines to promote his political ambition, he failed to answer so many questions regarding how he intends to improve the living standard of the people of the state. That would leave the people with an option like Engineer Musa Nashuni. Acording to him, his government when elected, will focus on continuity as exemplified by the current administration in the areas of education, health, commerce, agriculture, security, human development etc.
This is not a partisan article by any means. It makes sense that continuity equally means improving on the over 4,000 housing units that were constructed across all the local government councils of the state to improve shelter to the ordinary man in the state. Many more houses are still under construction and by electing Nashuni, several other thousand houses will be constructed in the state as part of the housing for all project of the incoming  government.
One of the biggest infrastructural achievement so far recorded was in the area of education, where enrolment was by the year 2004 only 142, 729 for students in secondary schools in the state. Today over 3, 568.000 students are attending secondary schools in the state. Of recent the state government has investment over N2bn million in ensuring a solid foundation for the take up of the federal University cited in Dutsinma local government area by the federal government. Nashuni’s government will ensure continuity of this revolution. And that is what we, the people of Katsina state, truly want.
