The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the initiation of a significant road construction project in the state.

The emir was speaking on Sunday in his palace when he received a team consisting of the contactor and the construction firm, Vipan Global Resources.

When completed, the 147-kilometer road, stretching from Marabar Kankara to Katsina through Dutsinma, is expected to improve security, enhance economic activities, and improve transportation in the region.

“Roads are vital infrastructure that serve as catalysts of development. I am sure if completed, this road will help reduce the problem of insecurity in the area, which is our major concern in the state,” the monarch has said.

He commended President Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing infrastructure development in Katsina State, emphasizing the road’s potential to improve access to healthcare, education, and markets for rural communities.
“We are immensely grateful to President Tinubu for his commitment to the development of our state. This road will not only facilitate easier movement but also spur economic growth and development in our communities,” the Emir remarked.

He urged the contractor to do a quality work that will stand the test of time, saying doing otherwise would affect their business negatively.

Earlier in his remark, the Managing Director of the construction firm, Engr. Doumit Ters, who said the project had already begun, assured the emir that his firm will complete it within the stipulated period of 24 months, saying the road will be standards-compliant.

On their part, some of the local residents from communities along the road echoed Emir’s sentiments, highlighting the road’s potential impact on reducing insecurity in the area.

Bishir Hamza, a resident of Kankara, noted that bandits often take advantage of major potholes, particularly around the Yantumaki area, to intercept and attack commuters, saying the improved road conditions will undoubtedly mitigate these security challenges.
