Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has flagged off the distribution of 20,000 metric tons of fertiliser to support the 2025 wet season farming in the state.
The launch ceremony took place in Kusada Local Government Area, where Governor Radda announced that the fertiliser would be sold to farmers at a subsidized rate of N20,000 per bag.
He said the initiative is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
Meanwhile, the Yobe State government has unveiled plans to distribute agricultural inputs and equipment worth over N17 billion to 5,340 farmers across the state as part of its 2025 agricultural empowerment programme.

The announcement was made during the 2025 Agricultural Show and Exhibition held in Damaturu. The event was organised by the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in partnership with the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACRESAL).
Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Ali Mustapha Goniri, said the distribution will be free of charge and is targeted at both male and female farmers to boost food production, job creation, and food security.
“The inputs will include tractors, improved certified seeds, solar-powered water pumps, fertilisers, and agrochemicals to support both wet and dry season farming,” Goniri said.
He added that the direct distribution initiative, to be launched soon, will ensure that the benefits reach deserving farmers and further strengthen the agricultural value chain in the state.
The Yobe State Coordinator of ACRESAL, Shehu Alhaji Muhammed, said the project had already disbursed $2.775 million to 111 communities through the Climate-Smart Agriculture/Community Revolving Fund Programme, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to climate-resilient farming.
