A N2.5billion Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) has been signed between the Katsina State Government and Merit Homes and Properties Limited for the construction of a 500-unit housing estate for civil servants in the state.
Daily Trust reports that the estate, to be constructed on 40 hectares in Barawa Town, along Batsari Road, is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Speaking at the event, the state Head of Service, Idris Tune, said government was committed to fulfilling its end of the bargain to ensure smooth completion of the project.
Tune said all the bottlenecks had been dealt with, and added that it took almost two years for the conceptualisation and actualisation of the project which was dear to the administration.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Merit Homes and Properties, Yakubu Fada, said the company was ready and committed to holding its side of the agreement.
