Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving at least 30 percent representation for women in political appointments and in party structures.
The Governor made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Katsina, which brought together women leaders, political actors, and government officials under the platform of the Reserved Seats for Women Association.
Radda described women’s participation in politics as vital to democratic development, stressing that empowering women to take up leadership roles would strengthen governance and promote balanced decision-making. He noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has created opportunities for women to freely contest elective positions, adding that the party remains committed to fairness and inclusivity.
“Our great party has provided the mandate and opportunity for women to freely contest for positions, and candidate emergence must strictly follow provisions of the Electoral Act through either primary elections or consensus,” he said.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, described the initiative as a landmark step in the state’s political evolution.
She said ongoing efforts are geared towards ensuring women secure at least 30 percent representation in governance and party structures.
Similarly, the APC State Chairman, Bashir Gambo Saulawa, commended women for their contributions to the party and reaffirmed continued support for their participation, urging stakeholders to respect due process in candidate selection.
