Addressing newsmen, the director said the funds were spent between 2007 and 2013, saying N13 billion is spent yearly on teachers’ salaries and over N11 billion was spent on infrastructural development this year.
Abdullahi added that the monies spent covered training and workshops for teachers as well as purchase of textbooks, desks, chairs and other equipments for the pupils.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Aminu Kado Kurfi, said the state is poised towards providing conducive environment for the development of education in the state.
He added that government has adopted measures for constant supervision of teachers in schools in a bid to ensure effective service delivery.
He said Katsina state has over 400 primary schools with over 27, 000 teachers manning them, noting that this year alone 1,500 additional teachers were employed and 2,000 others are on service training.
