Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the implementation of the Emirate Law passed by the State House of Assembly in August 2025.
This led to the elevation of District Heads to Grade Level 16 and Village Heads to Grade Level 10 across the state.
In his speech, Governor Radda described the initiative as a landmark step toward revitalising traditional institutions and improving the welfare of community leaders, who play a vital role in maintaining peace and fostering development at the grassroots.
The governor also commended the Local Government Service Commission and other stakeholders for ensuring the successful execution of the policy, expressing optimism that the reform would yield tangible benefits in the near future.
He added that his administration would continue to show support to traditional rulers, noting that their cooperation has been instrumental in sustaining peace and stability across the state.
He further expressed satisfaction with the improving security situation in Katsina, attributing recent gains to joint efforts between the government, security agencies, and community leaders.
