The installation of generator- powered streetlights in Katsina metropolis is costly, unsustainable and in the long run a misplaced priority by the state government at this time of recession. Rather, if it feels streetlights are its priority, then it should install solar-powered ones or explore other renewable energy options to power them. But really, it needs to focus more on using the scarce resources in funding projects that would improve the quality of lives of Katsinawas, like  the lack of sufficient water supply in the metropolis, providing adequate teaching aids in primary and post-primary institutions, and embarking on  renovation of schools.
