Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has dissolved the sole administrators of the 21 local government areas in the state.
This was contained in a letter signed by the acting permanent secretary in the state’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aliyu Hassan Kalgo, on behalf of the commissioner.
According to the letter, the dissolution is with immediate effect.
The sole administrators were directed by the governor to hand over the affairs, documents and properties of their respective local governments to the directors of administration.

Recall that the sole administrators were appointed by the governor when the tenure of the council chairmen expired in February last year.
Daily Trust reports that with the recent Supreme Court judgement granting local government autonomy, many state governors are preparing to conduct local government elections in their states.
Opposition parties in Kebbi State had called for the dissolution of the sole administrators ahead of the August 31 polls.
