Wife of Kebbi State governor, Dr Zainab Bagudu Shinkafi, has donated sanitary packs, containing pads and toiletries to 100 adolescent girls in Danko/Wasagu LGA of the state.

She said the gesture was aimed at improving hygiene for the girl child, particularly the vulnerable ones.

The governor’s wife also distributed food palliatives to vulnerable persons displaced by security challenges in the area.

About 200 people benefited from the gesture, which is aimed at cushioning the effects of their hardships.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Shinkafi said the gesture was part of the activities to mark this year’s World Humanitarian Day in the state.

Dr Shinkafi, who was represented by the Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Women Development, Zahra’u Abubakar Wali, noted that this year’s Humanitarian Day came as the world confronts the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed a great threat to humanitarian emergencies.

She explained that the palliative was to reduce the hardship faced by the beneficiaries, adding that those that were displaced as a result of security challenges were the target for the palliative.

“The palliative is for the poor, vulnerable as well as persons displaced by security challenges in Danko Wasugu local government of the state.

“One hundred adolescent schoolgirls received sanitary packs containing pads, toilet soap tablets and cash.

“The sanitary items were donated by Procter and Gamble as COVID-19 relief to members of Northern Governors’ Wives Forum.

In his address, the chairman of Danko/Wasagu LGA, Hussani Bena, expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife for choosing the less-privileged from his council for the gesture.
