Governor Saidu Dakingari gave the assurance during an inspection tour of a fish farm owned by the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, over the weekend in Argungu.
The governor commended the emir for embarking on commercial fish farming and advised civil servants and public office holders to emulate him to move the state forward.
He requested the emir and the state Ministry of Agriculture to liaise with local fishermen to bring back the diminishing species of Proteptrus popularly known as Gwando or Gartsa in Hausa language for large-scale production in view of its economic benefits to the society.
Earlier, the emir had told the governor that all species were available in the farm for commercial purposes, such as Lates-Nilotica (Giwar Ruwa), Clarias (Kullume), Tilapia  (Gargaza) and Hetrobranchun (Ramboshi) among others.
He assured the governor of re-invigorating the production of diminishing species of Proteptrus to tally with the position of Argungu as the home of international fishing festival.
