The just concluded Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections ended with a landslide victory for the ruling APC. This is indeed unprecedented since the creation of Kebbi State in 1991.

The historic victory could not only be attributed to Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu or the APC but to the entire Kebbi people whose belief in the leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is firm, supportive and mutually beneficial.

Last Saturday’s elections victory attests to so many things, notably it portrays mass acceptance of the economic policies of the present administration more specifically the anchor borrowers farming program launched by Mr President in Kebbi and carried to the next level by Senator Atiku Bagudu. The volume of votes poured in from the grassroots gave credence to the fact that the rural farmers have accepted the agricultural value chain development policies of PMB and Gov Bagudu to the extent that they want continuity of such laudable ideas.

Significant percentage of votes came from operators and beneficiaries of stable power supply majority of whom earn their living from small, medium and macro businesses across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

In similar passion, Students who attained voting age also believed in the educational package designed by the Bagudu led administration hence their votes for him and other APC candidates were massively endorsing.

The success story in Kebbi is not only linked to the remarkable achievements in agriculture, education, healthcare delivery, enhanced electrification and youth empowerment but also resulted from peace building measures initiated by Governor Bagudu in the state.

Apart from decisively dealing with cattle rustling and kidnapping in some parts of the state, Governor Bagudu personally arbitrates between Farmers and Fulani cattle rearers at any time such incidences occur no matter remote the location. Many of such disputes ended up with warm embrace and amicable settlements ensured by the governor with active support by Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers and other relevant Stakeholders.

It is also euphoric to note that Kebbi political model facilitated by the governor’s acumen and sagacity made it possible for all former governors, their deputies, all former senators and former ministers from Kebbi to share same political camp which hitherto was an extreme impossibility. This is unprecedented in the annals of Nigeria’s political history. It can only be equated with the China’s Communist Party in which despite being one party state, China moves faster than most of developed World in all economic ramifications.

Attaining this enviable and towering political height is not by accident but an product of political calculations, sterling leadership qualities and spirit of mutual engagement.

The midas touch of the Governor’s younger Brother Alh Ibrahim Bagudu added value to the quest for political unity, cohesion and participatory governance.

To this end and as Kebbi prepares for Next Level; it is expected that consolidation, accommodation, engagement and accelerated development would be in full gear.

Governor Bagudu deserves all the support, loyalty and understanding to enable him move Kebbi state to the promised level in cue with Singapore, Thailand, Parana and some notable tigers who at one time had strong-willed, focused and revolutionary leaders that shaped their past and present realities.
