He urged bank operators to partner with the state government in harnessing the abundant natural resources for small-scale industries such as paddy rice, diary production, fish farming and modernised production of brown-sugar.
“The state has enough fish for export; paddy rice worth 200,000 tonnes is harvested annually for rice processing mills, enough livestock that produces milk that is good for establishing a diary factory and modernizing the locally produced brown sugar made from sugar cane production, which is made from animal tracks instead of the modern way.
“I am therefore advising banks to avail themselves with the opportunity of the abundant natural resources across the state for would-be investors to come and establish small-scale industries, so as to assist farmers in paddy rice production, fish farming, animal, diary production and brown sugar processing,” he said.
The governor said the partnership will cement the relationship between the state and banks, aimed at improving the socio-economic activities of people in the state.
Earlier, the Branch Manager of Zenith Bank, Abdulsalam Hassan, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, expressed appreciation to the governor for recognising their contributions towards the socio -economic development of the state.
He commended the people and the state government for relative peace the state is enjoying, which he said, “is paramount to patronage.”
