Though, one John Chonoko, in some national dailies, has raised some fundamental concerns to these unguided utterances and actions that may destroy its aspirations for governor.
Thus, I wish to refer to two articles written by one Dr. Mamman Nassarawa especially the one that featured in Daily Trust of Tuesday, May 13, 2014. The article, with all intent and purpose, was viewed with distrust as another attempt to divide the unity of Zuru people.
The veiled deceit to support Kebbi South while ridiculing the very institution and people the struggle maximally relies upon for support was regrettable.
We in Kebbi State have never doubted the ocean of talents and quality individuals that abound in Zuru Emirate. We are also convinced that the Emirate can parade, under short notice, an army of eligible candidates for the coveted Kebbi Government House. The unfortunate thing on this struggle is the existence of some moles within its ranks.
I am certain Nassarawa has overstayed outside Kebbi State; he could have understood the body language of Governor as a strong supporter for power shift to Kebbi South. That is why the serious minded ones among Zuru people are toiling day and night to persuade Kebbians to support Kebbi South gubernatorial aspiration.
I am in consequence, very suspicious of Nassarawa as among the moles we suspected that didn’t mean well to Kebbi South aspirations. Our Nassarawa should be alert to his consciousness so that he gets to learn the arithmetic in Kebbi State politics.
Nassarawa disclosed the views shared by both Emir Sani Sami and Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (Rtd) that those with advanced age or insufficient health and energy etc should step aside for younger ones and assume the revered role of king makers.
One expected Nassarawa to take a cue from there and used that as his appraisal template. But he contradicted this principle when he categorised the speculated contestants from Zuru. The writer deliberately failed to state how he has arrived at the grouping aside from, probably, age qualification.
I refer Nassarawa and the reading public to an excellent piece in the Daily Trust of 14th April 2014 written by our erudite revered columnist, Mahmud Jega who expressly, using the Nigerian context provided the qualities for a President. I suggest Nassarawa should juxtapose those qualities enumerated by Jega to his search for a credible governor from Kebbi South; therein he will do justice in recommending the best candidate for Kebbi South to declare for governor in 2015.
By the time Nassarawa gets educated with the point blank revelations from Jega on the subject of Nigerian politics, he will understand and appreciate the supremacy of the party and its financiers, the support given to people with known antecedents and records; he will further understand the interest any outgoing governor shows in trying to defend his good legacies.
In this regard, the comparisons between Dakingari with Babangida Aliyu and Bola Tinubu in respect of zoning are baseless and out of context. The writer has forgotten that Governor Dakingari abhors dictatorship and would be the last person to impose a candidate on his people, as the peoples’ governor has sworn to be fair, just and impartial to all Kebbians.
Interestingly, our Nassarawa does not want the governor to support his credible, close and trusted Kebbians because of perceived betrayals and power tussles. Let Nassarawa go ahead and advise his hero, Babangida Aliyu to support his enemies to take over from him because of zoning. You don’t expect a sitting governor to folds his arm and allow the structures he has built to collapse by unknown elements. Please let Nassarawa mention one governor who does not give a damn over who succeeds him, then, I will show him an idiot who is about to stab himself on the belly.
We know Governor Dakingari is set to bequeath an enduring legacy that will transform Kebbi State to its highest pedestal. It should be noted that Dakingari is Kebbi State’s Governor and not PDP Governor and as such Dakingari knowing what he stand for will remain focused and undeterred in ensuring the state remain focused, peaceful and developed. The Dakingari I know is determined to befit to Kebbians an enduring genuine legacy, upright leadership and unblemished character to take over from him in 2015.
His prayers has always been for Kebbi State to have a governor with the right frame of mind, unquestionable credentials and records to take over from him in 2015. Let Kebbi South present a candidate who shares these ideals for sustainable development with special interventions in education, health, women and youth empowerment, agriculture and water supply and above all with records of discipline and financial prudency to take over from Dakingari as Governor of Kebbi State.
On a final note for the Nassarawas, let the people of Kebbi South intensify their lobby and reach out to the political king makers in the state and convince them why power should shift to Kebbi South in 2015. Again and again, Zuru people should present to us an acceptable and known candidate with unblemished track records to be supported for governor in 2015. I speak the honest minds of the Kebbians that 2015 is a decider for Zuru inclusiveness in Kebbi State and they have our understanding and support.
