The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has pleaded with its customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states to bear with the company over the erratic power supply experienced in the past few days.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the company, Mohammed Kandi said the shortage of supply was as a result of incessant system collapses on the national grid.
“The collapse which occurred for about six (6) times within the space of a week followed a fire incident on Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company Ltd (NGPTC) Escravos Lagos pipeline system which supplies gas to major generating plants thus resulting to the shutdown of the plants,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing has confirmed the repair and restoration of the razed gas pipeline.
The statement added that the electricity supply would be steady as soon as the plants return to normal operations.
