Keep the hedge intact to retain your blessing

God’s intention is for you to increase even from a humble beginning. God is able to take you from wherever you are right now and make you bigger. That is his plan for you and your future.

In Job 1, Satan himself testified concerning Job that God has blessed the work of his hands so that his business prospers exceedingly and spreads.

Job 1:10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.”

We see three things here: provision, protection and prosperity. When provision is protected, prosperity is inevitable.

Fenced farm

I saw a cute little farm with green and flourishing crops. There were animals all around but they had no access to the crops because of an elaborate fence around the farm. The farmer took special care to put up an impenetrable fence.

The devil confessed that he could not touch Job and all he had because God put a hedge around him and his household and everything he had. Many believers are not conscious of the need to keep this hedge intact so that the enemy will not be able to touch them and what they have.

The work of the hedge

The real work of the hedge is to prevent losses. Job 1:10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.”

Job could increase because he was not losing anything. He was adding and the enemy was not able to subtract. Your ability to gather is your potential for increase. But your ability to retain is your ability to increase. Those who have weak ability to retain have the least chance of increasing. The person gathering little and not losing anything will soon overtake the person who is gathering much but also losing much more. Many people are losing more than they are gathering. They find it difficult to increase. It has come to an end! You will gather much and lose nothing in Jesus name. You will increase and not diminish in Jesus mighty name.

Major components of the hedge

1.    The presence of God seen as fire (it was visible to the children of Israel in the wilderness; it came like tongues of fire in the upper room on the day of Pentecost). Psalm 94:22 “22But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.” Psalm 125:2 “2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.”

2.    Faith – standing on the Word. This is Holy living. Notice the bible refers to faith as a shield (Ehp 6:16). Fear breaks the hedge.

3.    The blood of Jesus. The blood on the lintel and door posts prevented the death of the first born of the Jews.

4.    The presence of fierce-looking angels (Psalm 34:7 “7The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”). One day the Lord opened my eyes to see about 10 angels positioned around my house.

5.    Divine favour – is described in the book of Psalms 5:12 as a shield.

6.    Wealth

7.    Positive people wall. 1Sam 25:14-16, “Look, David sent messengers from the wilderness to greet our master; and he reviled them. 15 But the men were very good to us, and we were not hurt, nor did we miss anything as long as we accompanied them, when we were in the fields. 16 They were a Wall to us both by night and day, all the time we were with them keeping the sheep.”

6 Keys to maintaining the hedge

a.    Keep the hedge around your heart. Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Watch your thoughts because they determine the direction of your life.

b.    Keep watch over your mouth. Psalm 141:3 “3Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Speak only faith-filled words from a faith-filled heart. Your confessions will either open the door to God or to the devil. Satan wants your words so desperately that he will do anything to get you to say something he can use to destroy you.

c.    Watch your conduct. Avoid the misuse of your body through immorality.

d.    Watch your associations

e.    Honour spiritual leadership

f.    Pay your tithes and sow seeds.

I flush out every satanic infiltration of your life in Jesus name. Let the hedge of protection around you be fully restored in Jesus name. I command to be destroyed whatever makes you to diminish.
