Ekiti State NYSC team has defeated the Anambra state counterparts to emerge the champions of the NYSC Director General’s Cup 2021.

Team Ekiti, who represented the southwest, defeated Team Anambra by a lone goal in the final of the football event.

The only goal of the match was scored by Femi Omodara who was introduced in the second half of the match.

Team Ekiti was propelled to victory by players Abdullahi Abdlwasiu, John Ogoloma , Haruna Abutu, Mabi Hasan,   Anieken Okon, Usman Olasupo, , Caleb David, Mohammed Mohammed, .George Gyan  and Abegnigo Gozim.

Apart from the golden trophy, the Head Coach Team Ekiti NYSC, Kehinde Anjorin was quoted as saying his goalkeeper, Femi Adeyemi, was scouted by Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, who came to watch the finals.

He said the young goaltender has been promised an opportunity to try out with the senior national team as reward for his heroics for Team Ekiti.

Adeyemi was described as a goalkeeper with great potential.

Apart from the Super Eagles coach, former international, Daniel Amokachi who is an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, was at the grand finale of the NYSC football competition.
