Aremu, himself a revered saxophonist and Jazz performer was in the US last week to make concluding talks with Kenny G’s managers. And those close to him tell us he’s beyond happy; excited about the prospects of having the Grammy Award-winning act who’s the ‘biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era’ perform at his annual gig.
It will be Kenny G’s first time in Lagos where he has loads of fans and followers. The 55-year-old has sold over 70 million albums in career spanning almost four decades. Yet he’ll be shocked by how much Nigerians know his tunes, how much he’s loved here, and how much Nigerian saxophonists will give him a run for his money…
Sax Appeal 3 will hold in Lagos on July 3, at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
Past editions have featured international acts like Kunle Ayo, Judith Sephuma,Yolanda Brown, as well as Nigerian acts Yinka Davies, Tosin Martins, Bex, Cobhams Asuquo and several others.
According to Aremu, the Sax Appeal Concert is geared towards the Rebirth and Promotion of Live Musical Performances in Nigeria.
