Disclosing this in an interview with Grassroots Sports, coach of the academy, Paul Odey, said all efforts made by the administration of the academy to procure visas for the players have not yielded any fruit.

“The boys are raring to go and ready to prove that they have all the qualities to play professional football in any part of the World, but the problem they are facing is the failure to secure visas.

“There are clubs in Belgium ready to take the players for trial and they are supposed to have made the trip many weeks back, but that has not come to pass.

“In order to keep them in good shape for the trip, whenever it is possible to make it, we have decided to stop the players from going on holidays with their colleagues. They have remained with us in the camp, while some of them are currently training with Kwara United FC,” Odey said.

The students of the academy resumed last Monday and were made to undergo different tests by their coaches in order to determine their level of fitness.

“Whenever the academy resumes from holiday, it is our practice to test the players, some of who must have relaxed and become a little bit out of shape while the holiday lasted. But, we are happy, most of them are in good shapes,” he said.
