Community members of Kibiya local government area of Kano state have commended the local authority’s efforts in improving healthcare services in the area.
Some of the residents, who spoke to Kano Chronicle, said the initiative has gone a long way in improving the quality of healthcare service delivery to the people of the area and its surrounding communities.
“Initially, we have to trek a long distance to Rano to seek medical services for our sick ones but now Alhamdulillah, everything is done here and I considered that as a great achievement recorded in the recent time in the local government,” a resident, Habibu Auwal, said.
Kano Chronicle gathered that, until recently, healthcare service providers in Garko, Tudun Wada, Kibiya and Sumaila local governments could not even carry out blood test and screening on patients, but only refer patients to Rano.
However, in its efforts to address the problem, Kibiya local government has entered into agreement with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for the improvement of healthcare service delivery to its people.
Following the development, some qualified healthcare personnel from AKTH are visiting the area to take care of the sick.
Chairman, Kibiya local government, Alhaji Alkasim Abdullahi Cike, said the council had sent a contingent of its health workers on capacity building training at the AKTH.
“We have sponsored some of our health workers for a capacity building training at the AKTH. They have been trained in blood test, blood screening and blood transfusion, and we are hoping that in the near future more health workers will be sent for training in various aspects of healthcare delivery,” Cike said.
